The November Update
over 4 years ago – Fri, Nov 12, 2021 at 04:19:27 PM

Hey gang,

Grief is a thing.

I went into October with a busted up PC and missing my friend who had passed away, but certain that I would still be working at the pace I desired. That each day I would get up and resume my normal workload and pace, and put in my hours and type up my words. And each day, I just missed my friend. For the first week I attributed it to just being sick, or being lazy, but one week turned into two, into three, and then into four. Frustration would well up during that first week, despair built up in the second as I couldn't work, and then finally it really hit me that I wasn't really dealing with the loss of my friend. Surely, truely, I was sad over the loss of my friend. I'd lost other people before, sure, over the years. I've bounced back from losing them.

So why wouldn't I recover from this so easily?

Taking the time to recover wasn't the right way to think about it, but that's how it felt. It felt like harm had been done on me, and that I needed to heal from it. I tried thinking that it was just temporary, but it wasn't. I was desperate to just have it be done with. I was losing time. I needed to work. I had a talk with a friend, who said that if I can't find some way to escape it, I should just go through it, and come out the other side. I tried it.

The simple truth of it all is that I miss my friend dearly. I wish she was still here. I'd known her since High School, attended her wedding, helped her out with family issues. I was more or less a nobody up until I started working in this industry, and the last time we spoke, she remarked that it was good to see me here. A couple months later her husband called me with the news.

I miss my friend a great deal. And while I'm still grieving the loss, I can function again. I still have moments and points where my thoughts are nothing but mournful, but they're not days or weeks.

Backerkit is finished, and will be out soon. The PDF will be sent next month, and we are gathering estimates on printing, shipping and delivery times.

Thank you for your continued patience.

The September Update
over 4 years ago – Fri, Oct 01, 2021 at 05:18:46 AM

Hey gang,

Currently dealing with two issues:

The slow decay of my PC. I'm currently in the process of making a new build, but some of the damage with it involves some hard drive corruption, and as a result I lost eight transcriptions. Working on getting those re-done still. No audio or video was lost, thankfully, so I won't have to RE-DO interviews.

And because life comes at you fast, I'm currently dealing with the loss of a good friend of mine. Its hard to lose someone you care about, harder still the longer you've known them. Having known her for the majority of my life now, its a long process for me to go through.

As a result, and I am sorry for this, I have to push the release of the PDF to late October, potentially early November. I do not like doing this, but these two things have harshly affected my ability to do what I need to be doing on a daily basis. BackerKit will be out later in October once things have cleared up.

Hope y'all are doing well.

The Shitty July Update
over 4 years ago – Thu, Jul 22, 2021 at 12:42:02 AM

Hey gang!

So currently freight is a nightmare. I don't know how else to put it other than prices are ridiculous, times have increased, and no matter how many people I interview I don't really have a way to avert this, so lets start the worst update on this project.

Because of the worldwide paper shortage and the unprecedented freight and shipping crisis, people are busier than ever in their schedules. When I set the original deadline for this project, I made it with the understanding that people's schedules are often very hectic, especially if they're a game designer. Well, its true, and I'm chasing down the last few interviews to hold, delayed by me trying to figure out how to circumvent the current industry-wide issue, and I suspect on some level them trying to do the same, in addition to other workloads.

The current plan is to have the PDF out in September and the physical book (and extras) by December.

The good news: We should be sending invites to backerkit in the next week.

Middling news: Here's what to expect for shipping:

  • US - 9 usd
  • NA (outside of US) - 25 usd
  • UK/EU  10 -15 usd (which is about +8 british pounds)
  • AUS - 18 usd (25 aud)
  • Outside of those regions ~30-40 usd

While these are current shipping estimates, if when we get into backerkit shipping is too high for you, we'd be happy to look into compensating with digital product from the Metal Weave Games library, or at the worst a refund for the print copy.

Hope y'all are well.

The June Update
almost 5 years ago – Tue, Jun 01, 2021 at 11:15:15 PM

Hey Gang!

There are four interviews left to do, and the aim is to be done with layout by the end of the month. There were some transcription delays due to personal life complications (dog with worms, its a whole thing), but I'm still finishing them and sending them out for review. With how problems plague printers these days as a result of the pandemic complicating things up and down this industry, there may be some delay, but the goal is to hit them ASAP. BackerKit (in some form or another) comes out Soon(tm) as well!

Thank you all for your continued patience.

Additionally, a good friend of mine just released today with full funding completed within 23 minutes! If you'd like to support a TTRPG creator from the RPGSea community, please check out ARC.

The April Update
almost 5 years ago – Thu, Apr 15, 2021 at 08:04:24 AM

Hey Gang!

Interviews are nearing completion, with many of them in the process of transcription. We're currently on track for August still, though we have faced one set back. In full transparency, due to events coming to light last month, Brandon Dixon will no longer be included in POLYHEDRAL.

However, the following creators have been added to the book's final list of interviewees:

BackerKit will be coming soon.

Hope you're all doing well, and will update again with any further developments.

Take care.
